About
Hi I'm Faimy Vanleeuwen, pronounced "Van -lay- u- when". Funny thing is, I should probably do the same for my first name. Which is "Fay-me". After a few cocktails you may be able to get the full story, but the short version of it is, my dad traveled quite a bit and wanted a unique name for a girl and this is how I ended up with this name. And quite frankly this Whole personality!
Both of my parents are natives to Port-au-Prince, Haiti where I was born. And although I've been in the States since I was 2 years old, I still hold strong to my roots and culture. I've since acquired a strong sense for the Zambian culture from the love of my life.
I married the love of my life and best friend, and we've been together for over 18 years. Together we produced the most amazing 8 year old boy Gavyn! Don't like to brag that I live a fairy tale life, but it sure feels that way.
I discovered that I enjoyed the flair of entertaining at a very early age which started while helping my mom with Sunday dinners after church. I graduated with a bachelors in nursing and a minor in science, and during that time I would host dinner parties for friends and family since money was always on short supply as a college student. Hosting parties took on a life of its own after I got married. I wanted to make every meal special, romantic, and memorable! I had so much creative energy that I was running out of places to apply it. In 2008, I went back to school and became a licensed cosmetologist, yet another way to get all this creativity out. I opened my salon in 2010 after the birth of my son. I truly felt happy, I got to do every thing I loved doing. Pampering my clients with homemade pastries, while expressing my creativity through hair and makeup! With so much on my plate as a full-time mom, nurse, business owner, and the hostess with the mostest, I decided to scale back and focus on my family.
Today you'll find me at home on the weekends in my dream kitchen with a cocktail, creating my next dinner party or date night in. And believe me, there is no place I'd rather be.
This Blog/Creative space of mine will be about how I celebrate everyday and every occasion for my family and friends. How to make any occasion a fancy one... With a little creativity, a little imagination and just a bit of time, your everyday can become amazing!
